This was a very interesting show, because I've heard many people say that Oprah doesn't allow opportunities for other black talent to have their own talk show. Well in this particular episode it is revealed that Relationship Expert Iyanla Vanzant, a black women, was Oprah's protege and being groomed to have her own show through Harpo Productions. Iyanla was being groomed before Dr. Phil or Dr. Oz ever became Oprah's proteges. Their relationship and business ventures feel apart when Iyanla chose to take an opportunity presented to her from Barbara Walters, that ultimately failed after one season on the air.
Now I must say that it is becoming more and more common to see two black women on television disagreeing, arguing, or fighting over spilled milk. Regardless if Oprah set out to tap into the market that is entertained by this type of entertainment or not, I'm sure she struck a cord with this episode today. There is nothing wrong with talking out your differences regardless of the race, religion, sex, or political affiliations, but it seems like the entertainment industry is capitalizing on this growing market of confrontations.
I guess I will end it by saying, "ish that make you go uhmmmmmm?" And turn the channel to see who Nene is fighting today.
